Di van der Riet-Steyn

 lives in the Karoo village of Prince Albert , with husband Mark, daughter Michaela [16] and son Andrew [12], 2 horses, 2 dogs, 4 cats, lots of chickens and plenty of friends. Village life is very busy as one has to fulfil the necessities of a city life with far fewer feet, thus one becomes wife, mother, business woman, farmer, fund raiser, tourism executive, teacher and artist.

Exhibited jewellery nationally. Grahamstown Arts Festival twice.

Creates jewellery commissions in between.

Loves living in a “dorp” far from malls and traffic and stuff.

Often one walks nose down searching for that piece… bits of karoo blues… someone else’s precious plate or cup, treasures in the ground  , “made in china” had another meaning long ago and now these little gems are wrapped in pure silver and are to be used once again, who used that piece 150 years ago?

Nella Opperman, in London has been my inspirational guru for years...even back to 1981 at college in London ....so thanks Nella  for being my "mum" nagging me in April to do it.....I dedicate this “karoo blues” exhibition to you!
